Amid a tussle between Trifed Chairman Ramsinh Rathwa and Managing Director Gitanjali Gupta, the latter has been transferred to Niti Aayog as Additional Secretary.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved her appointment. “Ms. Gitanjali Gupta, lAS (UT:96), Managing Director, Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India, Ministry of Tribal Affairs as Additional Secretary, NITI Aayog”, the government order reads.
She worked with the MD of Trifed for more than 14 months.
Sources familiar with the development say that the lack of agreement between the chairman and the managing director over several issues has led to conflicts between them.
In the last board meeting held on 27th October 2023, there was a sharp argument between the Trifed Chairman’s side comprising cooperative leaders and MD Geetanjali Gupta who was backed by the IAS lobby.
