A one-day Regional Workshop on Strengthening of Cooperatives was organized on Thursday in Guwahati, Assam, jointly by the Ministry of Cooperation and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
The workshop brought together key stakeholders of the cooperative movement to deliberate on ongoing initiatives and chalk out strategies for strengthening the sector in the region. Officials from the State Cooperation Department, representatives of cooperative institutions, and senior government functionaries actively participated in the programme.
The meeting was graced by the presence of Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. Senior officials from the State Government and the Ministry of Cooperation were also in attendance.
The deliberations focused on the implementation and progress of various national-level cooperative schemes, identification of region-specific challenges, and measures to enhance cooperative governance and sustainability. Special emphasis was laid on strengthening grassroots-level institutions through coordinated efforts between central and state agencies.
