TN new scheme to scale up co-op transactions

According to the New Indian Express the Tamil Nadu govt has launched a scheme “Kalainger Magalir Urimai Thogai” (women honorarium scheme) to ramp up the financial operations of cooperative banks managed by the state cooperation department.

Nearly 1.06 crore women family heads across the state will get Rs 1,000 per month under the scheme.

Govt sources claimed even if 8% to 10 % of these beneficiaries get funds through cooperative banks, the annual transaction volume of these banks will rise by Rs 800 crore to Rs 1,000 crore.
