Ahead of Deepavali, the Tamil Nadu government has approved a bonus and ex gratia totaling Rs 44.11 crore for 44,081 employees of cooperative societies for 2024-25, to be disbursed in 2025-26, media reports say.
Employees in societies under the Payment of Bonus Act will get up to 20% bonus depending on surplus; those without surplus will receive 10% bonus plus ex gratia.
Profit-making societies not under the Act will get up to 20% bonus and ex gratia, while non-profit apex and central societies will get Rs 3,000, and primary societies Rs 2,400.
