The Hindu reports a Tamil Nadu minister distributed Deepavali bonus and dividend to 141 weavers’ cooperative societies comprising 24,091 members Rs 11.57 crore at Chennimalai.
Top district officials were present on the occasion.
In his address on the occasion, minister for information and publicity Saminathan said that under the Department of Handloom and Textiles, there are 188 weavers’ cooperative societies in the district and bonus and dividend were distributed to societies that were running in profit during the period 2020-21.
The minister added that the state govt. is doing its best to take possible measures including Cauvery drinking water project to ensure the welfare of the people of the district.
