TMC bags co-op poll win in Nandigram

Riding on back-to-back cooperative poll victories, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has scored a symbolic win in Nandigram, considered Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari’s stronghold, media reports say.

A week after sweeping all 12 seats of Amdabad Samabay Krishi Unnayan Samity, the party won the Ranipur Samabay Samiti, defeating the BJP by nine seats. TMC leaders credited Abhishek Banerjee’s ‘Sebaashray’ health camps for the turnaround, claiming the results reflect pent-up public frustration.

The party said voters had rejected “loot and lies”, adding the victory marked only the beginning, even in an area long dominated by the Opposition leader.
