There is no crisis of fodder in Gujarat: Sodhi

Speaking on the sidelines of the press conference in Ahmadabad by the union minister for animal husbandry and dairying Giriraj Singh, GCMMF MD R S Sodhi said there is enough fodder in Gujarat and farmers need not worry about the supply of fodder, reports DNA.

In the presser the minister announced that eleven sex-sorted semen laboratories will soon be made operational to improve the breed of milk giving animals as well as to help farmers prevent production of unwanted male calves.

Referring to the rise in the price of fodder, the MD said this has been compensated by raising the price of milk.

Giriraj also said the government was also working on “egg cultivation”. “We produce 30 crore eggs per day. There is an inclination for organic eggs. We will provide desi chicken to farmers at zero cost,” he said.
