Thakur seeks VRS; to begin a fresh innings with co-ops!

D N Thakur, an officer with formidable reputation in the cooperative and agriculture sector has taken VRS from the govt. He said goodbye to NCDC on 31st January and would continue for a while in the Ministry before finally exiting on 10th February.

“Thakur sir has been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for us”, say people who have worked with him.

Thakur played a long innings in the Ministry of agriculture and cooperation and is credited with allowing highest number of registration of co-op societies in his tenure. “Averse to bureaucratic red-tap, Thakur would, instead, guide and help us whenever we approached him”, recalled several cooperators who have interacted with him.

Radiating energy and a friendly smile, Thakur was to be found in all the major co-op events taking place not only in Delhi but also across India.

He made a difference wherever he went. If in the Ministry he ensured that co-ops are formed without a hitch, at NCDC he got the limit of loaning to co-ops raised by three times with the active support of its MD.

Though he has retired from the govt job but he is yet to retire from his active life as, Indian Cooperative has learnt that he has many offers on his way. He is already the Chief Executive of LINAC and given his involvement in developing the idea of Umbrella organization for UCBs from the very beginning, there are talks of him being roped in the venture sooner than later.

But what is close to Thakur’s heart is strengthening the co-op movement and making it a means of ushering in rural prosperity. “I have many ideas and time has come to implement them ”, conceded Thakur whose idea of rewriting the fate of Uttarakhand PACs has grabbed the headlines in the past.

Few can match his commitment as far as the cooperative movement is concerned. Thakur says “I know the power of co-ops in transforming lives and I wish to work for the even same after my formal ties with the govt are over”.

Indian Cooperative wishes him a scintillating innings post superannuation!
