Telangana finance minister T Harish Rao recently said the state would soon have 1000 new fisheries cooperative societies, reports a local news outlet.
The minister asked officials to carry out a membership drive as soon as possible.The move has followed fishermen demanding the establishment of cooperatives for themselves, Rao said.
Speaking at a meeting the minister informed that the initial preparations including making people members and the registration process for hundreds of fisheries cooperatives are already completed.
