Telangana in Bihar’s foot-steps; sets up Election Authority

On the lines of Bihar the newly appointed independent Telangana state cooperative Election Authority will now hold all cooperative polls in the state, reports Hindu.

The state government has amended the Cooperative Societies Act, 1964, to bring in major changes in the existing election procedures. The amendment means Registrars and District Collectors are the competent authorities to organize elections.

As per the new rules, cooperative societies including the unaided ones, would submit proposals containing voters’ lists to the election authority 60 days before the expiry of their term.
