Weavers of 800 state-owned cooperative societies in Tamil Nadu will now sell their products online under ”Loomworld” a brand started by Amazon India, reports UNI.

The brand managed by the Department of Handlooms and Textiles of the State Government will directly benefit 1.89 lakh weaver households across Tamil Nadu. Silk and Cotton Weavers Co-operative Societies are the initial members of LoomWorld.

The first sales outlet of LoomWorld began in 2000 in Anna Nagar, Chennai. At present, LoomWorld has outlets in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Dharmapuri, Kancheepuram and Erode. The initiative, Amazon hopes, will transform the way India buys and sells.
