A 17th State Level Meeting of Task Force on Urban Co-operative Banks(TAFCUB) was held recently in Jammu, reports a news outlet from J &K reports. D. Sethy, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, for Jammu & Kashmir State at Jammu presided over the meeting.
Several officials of the cooperative department and functionaries of cooperative banks attended the meeting. The RBI official underlined the importance of the cooperative movement in the state
Participants in the meeting were unanimous in urging the State Government to expedite enactment of the 97thConstitutional amendment in the State which will strengthen the State Cooperative Societies Act and keep cooperative banks free from political interference.
