Union Ministry of Cooperation Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani chaired a high-level meeting on Monday to review the progress and implementation of various cooperative initiatives with the Registrars of Cooperative Societies (RCS) from seven states- Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar.

The meeting focused on strengthening the cooperative ecosystem through effective policy implementation, digital initiatives, improved governance practices and timely redressal of issues faced by cooperatives at the grassroots level.

Dr. Bhutani emphasized the need for faster adoption of technology, capacity building and ensuring greater accountability and transparency in the functioning of cooperative institutions.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, including Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Additional Secretary; Siddharth Jain, Joint Secretary; Dinesh Kumar Verma, Joint Secretary; Kapil Meena, Director; and Kumar Ram Krishna, Director, participated in the review.

Representatives from key national cooperative bodies such as NABARD, NDDB, NFDB and NCDC also attended the meeting. They provided inputs on financial assistance, technical support and policy interventions required to boost the efficiency of cooperatives across the States.
