The Jammu & Kashmir government has confirmed the registration of 39 cooperative societies in Sopore, with efforts underway to enhance their profitability and asset utilization.
Under modernization initiatives, Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) have received computer systems and expanded market access. Apna Bazaar Sopore reopened in 2024, and a Mini-Super Bazaar in Tarzoo is nearing completion.
Audits have been conducted for several societies, though some remain pending. The government reaffirmed its commitment to revitalizing the sector through financial reforms, infrastructural upgrades, and multi-faceted development of cooperative-owned assets.
