As part of the 72nd All India Cooperative Week, Sri Thyagaraja Co-operative Bank Ltd. has launched the “Aisiri Samruddhi” Scheme, an initiative designed to promote financial inclusion and education among girl students of government schools. Modeled on the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, the scheme aims to foster early saving habits and support higher education for young girls.
Bank Chairman Dr. M.R. Venkatesh said that under the scheme, savings accounts will be opened in the names of girl students from Classes 1 to 5 of Sri Thyagaraja Government Girls’ School, each with an initial deposit of Rs 500 sponsored by the bank. The accounts will earn 8% annual interest, and students maintaining transactions for five consecutive years will be eligible for education loans up to Rs 5 lakh without any collateral.
To spread awareness about the cooperative movement, the bank will also organize a District Inter-College Cooperative Quiz Competition for PUC, degree, and postgraduate students. Moreover, Zero Balance Savings Accounts and ATM cards will be offered to encourage youth participation in cooperative banking.
The program will be inaugurated on 3rd November 2025 at B.E.S. Educational Institution, Jayanagar, and will conclude on 20th November 2025 at Acharya Patashala College, Bengaluru.
