The Souharda Cooperative Act, which came into force on 1st January 2001, along with the Souharda Cooperative Movement in Karnataka, is celebrating its Silver Jubilee in 2025. The landmark event was inaugurated on 22nd August 2025 at a grand function attended by over 5,000 people.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of New & Renewable Energy and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. He was joined by Shri G. Nanjana Gowda, President of Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd. (KSSFCL), who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the cooperative sector’s role in inclusive growth.
Key dignitaries present included D. Sudhakar, Cabinet Minister of Planning and Statistics, and B. R. Patil, Vice President of the Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission. Several legislators also participated, including MLAs Araga Jnanendra, Nadoja Jagadish Gudgunty, Yashapala Suvarna, and MLCs Sunil Gowda Patil and Hanumanta Nirani.
The Silver Jubilee celebrations mark 25 years of the Souharda Cooperative Act’s contribution toward promoting self-reliance, mutual aid, and rural development through cooperative principles in Karnataka. Under the leadership of KSSFCL, a year-long series of events is planned across the state, aiming to highlight the achievements and future potential of the cooperative movement.
The celebrations emphasize the cooperative sector’s vital role in empowering rural communities, strengthening local economies, and fostering sustainable development throughout Karnataka.
