The Sikkim State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd. (SIMFED) held its 68th Board of Directors meeting in Gangtok, chaired by Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia. The meeting saw the participation of Board Secretary Yogesh Gurung and Managing Director Bhaskar Basnett.

The agenda covered 17 points, with notable decisions including the approval to delete Rule 7(4) of the SIMFED Service Rule 2008, which will allow future staffing decisions to align with SIMFED’s Bye Laws.

Additionally, the Board approved the purchase of shares in National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL), Bharatia Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL), and National Cooperative Organic Limited (NCOL).

In line with expanding its agricultural market reach, SIMFED agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Organic Agro India to market cherry pepper and turmeric. The Federation also plans to introduce a web-based file tracking system, GPS-enabled attendance management, and digital recordkeeping to enhance operational efficiency.

The Board discussed preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to secure funding for organic produce marketing from central agencies. These decisions represent significant steps in SIMFED’s commitment to strengthening cooperative services and fostering local market growth.
