The Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day for the first time at the SICUN Auditorium in a vibrant and inspiring event.
The occasion was graced by Hon’ble Minister Shri Raju Basnet, who attended as the Chief Guest, along with Guests of Honour Ms. Pavitra Bhandari, Chairperson of the OBC Commission, and DGP Shri Akshay Sachdeva. Shri Basnet congratulated Chairman Dr. Mangal Jit Rai and the SICUN team, emphasizing the need to strengthen the cooperative movement for socio-economic growth and rural development. He also assured full support to uplift the cooperative sector.
DGP Shri Sachdeva encouraged the audience to adopt healthy habits, embrace spirituality, and foster emotional intelligence to lead fulfilling lives. Dr. Rai highlighted SICUN’s mission to bridge the rural-urban gap and empower communities through education and training.
The event also saw addresses from Ms. Bhandari, RCS Smt. Karma Ongmu Bhutia, and SICUN CEO Mr. Phadung Bhutia. Three officials from the Cooperation Department were felicitated for their dedication.
The celebration concluded with vibrant cultural performances by SICUN staff, marking the day with energy, unity, and pride.
