The Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. held a Joint Coordination Meeting to address issues identified during field visits across Dairy Cooperative Societies in Soreng district on November 27 and 28 by Managing Director Dr. T B Ghatani, Regional Head Dr. N K Pradhan and route supervisors.
The review focused on improving milk collection efficiency, quality, procurement discipline and overall accountability. A key concern raised was the large volume of milk being sold locally instead of routed to the Union, prompting discussions on measures to streamline supply and ensure consistent procurement.
The Union also stressed mandatory submission of AMCU dispatch challans for better record transparency and monitoring. Technical glitches related to Data Processing Units and dairy apps were discussed with directions for immediate rectification. Progress under the NPDD project, including BMC shed construction, installation timelines, staff training, awareness programmes and testing equipment, was evaluated.
Officials committed to time-bound implementation of decisions, along with routine and surprise inspections for better compliance.
