The Cooperation Department in Soreng organised a “One Day at School” awareness programme at Khaniserbung Senior Secondary School to educate students about the cooperative movement and its role in community development. Around 50 students, from primary to senior secondary levels, actively participated.
Joint Registrar Smt Moti Rai attended the event along with departmental officials. Assistant Registrar Smt Durga Devi Chettri explained the history and growth of cooperatives globally, in India, and in Sikkim, highlighting their core values and principles.
Cooperative Inspector Shri Yadap Chhetri elaborated on the formation and functioning of cooperatives, including the “One GPU, One MPCS” concept.
School Principal Shri Bikram Mukhia stressed the importance of cooperatives in daily life. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Smt Sumee Subba.
