Sikkim Co-op Milk Producers’ Union hosts AGM

The 29th Annual General Meeting of the Sikkim Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union took place at Jorethang’s Community Hall on September 23, 2024. It was chaired by Chairman Yam Kumar Sharma.

The meeting saw participation from 18 Board Members and 291 Milk Producers’ Cooperative Societies.

The Managing Director, Dr. T.B. Ghatani, presented the audited report for 2023-2024, revealing a turnover of Rs 138.66 crores, with a net profit of Rs 0.76 crore.

Sikkim Milk Union continues supplying milk to 12 Army units, contributing Rs 43.58 crore to the turnover. Farmer-centric initiatives, including cattle feed improvement, fodder cultivation, and young farmer engagement, were discussed.

Plans for future expansion, like strengthening the ice-cream plant and improving productivity, were also highlighted. The Chairman emphasized government support and the cooperative movement’s future, read a govt release.
