The 61st Board Meeting of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) was held at its Assam Lingzey conference hall, focusing on enhancing the cooperative sector. Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, Chairman of SICUN, outlined objectives to strengthen grassroots cooperatives and promote self-reliance, including training programs to empower cooperative communities.

Ms. Gloria Namchu, Secretary of the Cooperation Department, emphasized improving collaboration between cooperatives for holistic development. Mr. Rohan Agawane, DC Pakyong, advocated for boosting high-value products like turmeric and honey for export.

The meeting reviewed SICUN’s recent activities, discussed new agendas, and approved revisions for hostel charges and the official web portal. Plans were also unveiled for the National Cooperative Conference and Foundation Day Celebration in Sikkim, set for April 1-2, 2025.

The gathering was attended by key stakeholders, including government officials and SICUN’s board members.
