CPI(M)-backed MLA K T Jaleel who had earlier demanded a probe into alleged irregularities in the AR Nagar Service cooperative bank by ED has eaten his words saying he never sought such an investigation, reports PTI.
P K Kunahalikutty a senior Muslim League leader is supposed to have carried out the swindle. Incidentally, the accused is Jaleel’s arch political rival.
Jaleel’s retraction assumes importance considering chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan had opposed the ED probe into the alleged financial irregularities.
Many left leaders had viewed the ED investigation as an interference in Kerala’s cooperative sector.
