Shah lauds Amul’s way of furthering co-op movement
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Saluting its spirit, Union Minister Amit Shah lauded Amul for furthering the co-op movement during a conference in Delhi before the representatives of Agriculture & Rural Co-op Development Banks.

With an aim to empower women, Amul did everything possible to make the co-operative movement successful which has ushered in an era of prosperity among the women of Gujarat, said Shah.

He recounted how Amul built roads when it found that the absence of the same is hindering milk collection. Co-operators connected to Amul toured rural areas tutoring people to form co-operatives, he added.

Asking Nabard and ARDBs to increase the long-term credit by crossing all hurdles, the Union minister asked them to help farmers form co-ops so that they can draw benefits from their schemes.

Running banks for the sake of it, has no meaning unless banks fulfil the aim for which they came into existence in the first place, said Shah, awakening delegates from their slumber.
