Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated several development initiatives of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation in Bhubaneswar, highlighting the importance of dairy cooperatives in strengthening rural livelihoods.
Addressing the gathering, Shah said the cooperative model has played a transformative role in India’s dairy sector and continues to provide sustainable income opportunities for farmers. He noted that expanding dairy cooperatives can significantly improve the economic condition of rural households.
Shah said the Government of India and the Government of Odisha will work together to strengthen the cooperative dairy network across the state. He added that efforts are being made to connect more farmers with organised dairy institutions so that the benefits of the cooperative movement reach villages.
He said such initiatives will help generate employment, increase milk production and contribute to rural prosperity.
