Shah highlights NCEL, NCOL & BBSSL impact

Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday told the Rajya Sabha that the government has created three new national multi-State cooperative societies, NCEL, NCOL and BBSSL, to link grassroots cooperatives with national and global markets.

He said National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL) has enrolled 16,002 cooperative societies, including PACS, and exported about 14.08 lakh metric tonnes of 40 agri-commodities to 29 countries, valued at over Rs 5,651.03 crore. NCEL has also provided a 20% dividend to its member cooperatives.

On National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), Shah stated that 13,441 cooperatives have been enrolled, supporting the organic value chain through certification, testing, branding and marketing under the “Bharat Organics” brand, ensuring profits are passed back to producing societies.

Regarding Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL), he said it has enrolled 37,206 cooperatives and sold 39,893 metric tonnes of seeds worth Rs 250 crore, strengthening seed distribution and farmer returns through cooperative participation.
