Addressing a Kerala Kaumudi conclave in Thiruvananthapuram, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Sunday highlighted the Rs 343 crore cooperative bank scam and questioned whether a proper investigation had ever been conducted into the case.
He said the absence of effective action in the cooperative bank scam demonstrates the failure of successive governments to address corruption in the cooperative sector.
Shah alleged that the alternating rule of the LDF and UDF in Kerala has led to rising corruption in the state, with neither alliance taking action against irregularities during their respective tenures. He said both fronts have failed to ensure accountability.
He further alleged that major scandals such as the AI camera scam, the Life Mission scam and the PPE kit procurement scam have also not been properly investigated. According to Shah, the LDF and UDF alliances protect each other from accountability and shield those responsible for corruption.
Shah said that if Kerala wants a corruption-free government, it is necessary to give the NDA an opportunity to govern the state.
