Shah felicitates Saraswat Bank on completing 100 glorious years

Of the ten UCBs which were felicitated by the Union Minister Amit Shah on the occasion of a national conclave on co-op banks and credit societies in Delhi on Thursday, the Saraswat Co-operative Bank figured most prominently.

The award and the Shield were received by Chief General Manager of the Saraswat Bank Shri Ajay Jain at the glittering function. Gautam Thakur, Chairman of the Bank, who was scheduled to participate in the event, could not make it due to his being indisposed. Thakur was also to chair a session.

Speaking on the phone, Thakur thanked the minister and others and said to Indian Cooperative that the journey of 100 years was indeed eventful. The next 100 years are no less challenging as the co-op banking sector has been tasked with making India a 5 trillion-dollar economy.

It bears recall that the Saraswat Bank was established in 1918 and operated as a credit co-op in the beginning. The Bank has witnessed important world events like the First World War, Second World War, India’s freedom struggle, and the glorious post-independence era.

Standing the test of time, it has grown to be a pioneer in the urban co-operative banking sector in India, offering unparalleled financial services.

Towering over its competitors and growing well for a century, Saraswat Bank today is the largest Urban Co-operative Bank in India and is spread across six states – Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka.

With a total business of Rs.67,000 crore plus, 283 branches, and 311 plus ATMs, the Bank is committed to taking its legacy ahead with outstanding services.
