Shah chairs Parliamentary Panel meet; pushes White Revolution 2.0

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah chaired the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Cooperation at Banas Dairy in Vav–Tharad, Gujarat, where the future roadmap for India’s dairy cooperative sector and White Revolution 2.0 was discussed.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers of State Krishan Pal Gurjar and Murlidhar Mohol, Members of Parliament, Cooperation Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, and senior officials. A detailed presentation showcased the potential of cooperative-led dairy development and its role in sustainability and circular economy initiatives.

Shah said cooperation forms the backbone of the rural economy, contributing to farmers’ income, women empowerment, and the country’s self-reliance in milk production. He stressed that under the Prime Minister’s vision of “Sahakar Se Samriddhi”, dairy cooperatives have emerged as key growth drivers and are instrumental in empowering women and rural households.

He suggested linking village-level cooperatives with insurance services, enabling easy access to two-wheeler and four-wheeler insurance. Shah also urged cooperative entities to invest in each other to build capital and strengthen the ecosystem.

Highlighting progress under White Revolution 2.0, he noted that three Multi-State Cooperative Societies have been established for the dairy sector to ensure a cooperative in every Panchayat and a dairy in every district.

He added that Tribhuvan Cooperative University in Anand will launch dairy technology courses to build skilled manpower for nationwide replication of the Banas Dairy model. Shah further proposed establishing soil testing labs across districts to guide judicious fertilizer use and improve soil health.
