Dr Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, chaired a meeting to review the presentation of a study report prepared by NABARD, focusing on strengthening cooperative development across the country.

The meeting examined the key findings of the study and deliberated on practical strategies for implementing its recommendations to further deepen and modernise the cooperative sector.

Discussions centred on policy interventions, institutional reforms, and capacity-building measures required to enhance the efficiency, outreach, and sustainability of cooperatives in different regions. Emphasis was also placed on aligning the recommendations with ongoing initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation to ensure coordinated and time-bound implementation.

The meeting was attended in person by Raman Kumar, Joint Secretary, and Kumar Ram Krishna, Director, Ministry of Cooperation. Shaji K.V., Chairman of NABARD, participated virtually, along with other senior officials from NABARD.

The interaction underlined the importance of close coordination between the Ministry and NABARD in translating research insights into actionable outcomes for cooperatives and strengthening their role in inclusive economic growth nationwide.
