The South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank in Karnataka posted a profit of Rs. 23.75 crore in 2015-16 as against Rs 19.81 crore in the last fiscal. This represents a growth of 19.9 per cent, reports Hindu Business Line.

Speaking to journalists recently in Mangaluru the president of the bank said this was the highest profit ever recorded by his bank.

The NPA of the bank counted 4 per cent. But the recovery of loans in the farm sector was 100 per cent this fiscal. Most of the NPAs came from retail and jewellery loans, the president said.

The total turnover of the bank hovered abound Rs. 5548.58 crore in 2015-16. With a huge network of branches in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of the state, the bank aims to have a business of Rs. 6300 crore in the next fiscal, the president claimed.

The cooperative bank has disbursed 55440 RuPay Kisan cards to farmers and 25651 RuPay debit cards to its other customers.
