Sarvjan Bahuuddeshiya Sahkari Samiti hit media headlines when DM of Pilibhit has ordered lodging of an FIR in connection with alleged illegal storage of 2,694 quintals of government wheat in a private rice mill godown, reports TOI.

The wheat was shown as procured by a cooperative society registered as Sarvjan Bahuuddeshiya Sahkari Samiti (SBSS), which had also been allotted a wheat procurement centre.

The matter came to light when sub-divisional magistrate, Pilibhit Sadar circle, Purnima Singh raided the procurement centre and the rice mill.

Additional district magistrate (finance and revenue) Braj Kishor told TOI, “The SDM found 2,694 quintals of wheat — procured from 52 farmers for the government — kept in the rice mill godown.
