Addressing ‘What men and women need to know about Sexual Harassment Laws and Section 498A’, the sixth session of the Police & You series held at Saraswat Bank’s headquarters in Prabhadevi, a speaker quoting data from National Crime Records Bureau said in 2014 3.38 lakh cases of crime against women were reported: an increase of 9.4 per cent over 3.10 lakh cases reported in 2013.

The number of complaints registered with the National Commission for Women related with sexual harassment at the workplace rose to 336 in 2014 from 249 in 2013, the speaker said, reports Hindu.

Saraswat Bank is supporting the 12-week programme, organised by Moneylife Foundation and Police Reforms Watch to spread knowledge about protecting oneself, one’s rights, and being aware of the Indian Penal Code, cyber crime and economic offence.
