Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha that as on 23rd July 2025, a total amount of Rs 5,139.23 crore has been disbursed to 27,33,520 depositors out of the total 1,35,34,410 depositors of the Sahara Group of Cooperative Societies. Additionally, an amount of Rs 523.72 crore is still available for disbursement.
The Hon’ble Supreme Court has granted an extension for the refund disbursement to Sahara depositors till 31st December 2025. Applications received on the portal are being processed in a transparent manner, based on proper identification and the submission of valid documents. The payment is being credited directly into the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of genuine depositors.
As per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), depositors whose deposits had matured and remained unpaid as on 31st March 2023 are eligible to submit their claims through the portal.
At present, only the principal amount up to Rs 50,000 is being disbursed to each verified depositor. The ceiling limit per depositor is being increased periodically, based on fund availability and with priority given to small depositors.
In cases where deficiencies are found in a depositor’s application, the same is being conveyed to them for correction. Such applicants are required to resubmit their application through the dedicated “Re-submission Portal” launched on 15th November 2023, available at https://mocresubmit.crcs.gov.in.
