Amid governance and transparency debates triggered by RTI activists on social media, the Sahakar Panel, led by the outgoing board, has secured a decisive victory in the elections of the Surat-based the Varachha Co-operative Bank Ltd, underlining robust member support despite the controversy.
Voting was held on Sunday, and the results were announced today. According to details available with the Indian Cooperative Desk, the outcome reflects a clear and decisive mandate in favour of the panel.
Backed by overwhelming support, all panel candidates secured impressive victories, signalling a strong and united endorsement from shareholders. Among the top vote-getters were Babu Bhai Radadiya (7,926 votes), Bhadresh Lakhani (7,759), Bipin Virani (7,802), and C.P. Vanani (7,621), highlighting the panel’s deep grassroots connect and decisively outpacing rival private panel candidates.
In a heartfelt message following the victory, the Sahakar Panel expressed deep gratitude to members, stakeholders, and senior supporters. “This victory belongs to every member who stood with us. Your trust is our greatest strength and a sacred responsibility. We remain committed to upholding transparency, integrity, and delivering on your expectations,” the panel said.
Emphasising the spirit of the cooperative movement, the panel described the win as more than just an electoral triumph, reiterating the message: “Without cooperation, there is no upliftment.”
Other prominent winners include Haresh Kapadia, Haribhai Kathiriya, Kantibhai Markana, Manhar Saspara, Naishadh Jasoliya, Narendra Kukadiya, Rajendra Bambhroliya, and Vallabhbhai Chothani, further strengthening the panel’s leadership bench.
