Speculations as to whether Sahakari Bharati senior leader from Karnataka Annasaheb Jolle would fight as BJP candidate from Chikkodi ended when his name figured in the final list of candidates announced by the party.
Jolle was the founder Chairman of Examba based Shri Beereshwar Cooperative Credit Society which claims a membership of over 2.58 lakh.
He is also the Chairman of Karnataka Co-operative Oilseeds Growers Federation.
It is learnt that there were two political families aspiring to get the BJP ticket from this constituency but the party finally preferred the Jolle family. This has upset Umesh Katti, who is a party MLA and a former Minister.
The Congress has announced Hukkeri as its candidate from Chikkodi, but he is yet to file his nomination. Annasaheb Jolle’s wife Shashikala Jolle is the BJP MLA from Chikkodi.
