Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the Namami Gange project by NMCG and Sahakar Bharati in his Sunday “Mann ki Baat” and lauded initiatives taken by the organizers to protect climate and through creating Sahakar Ganga Gram.

Modi said that the project has been recognized by the United Nations, which underlines the fact that ideas originating from Indian soil can conquer the world. It bears recall that Sahakar Bharati Ganga gram project is winning international recognition with the UN recognising Ganga rejuvenation program as one of the 10 ground-breaking initiatives from around the globe for their role in restoring the natural ecosystem.

NMCG and Sahakar Bharati together aim to achieve the vision of a sustainable and viable economic development by public participation, creation and strengthening of local cooperatives towards realizing the mandate of Arth Ganga, that aims to link people with the river through a “bridge of economics”.

Sahakar Bharati President D N Thankur said “We intend to take this approach to every village in the states through which the Ganga flows. To begin with, we have shortlisted 75 villages in five States for the purpose of Conserving, preserving and enriching natural resources through a cooperative system.”
