The CPI(M)-affiliated Telangana Rythu Sangham has accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of weakening the state’s cooperative framework by nominating Congress party workers to cooperative societies, media reports say.
District secretary Bonthu Rambabu said such moves undermine the democratic, farmer-led character of cooperatives. He demanded that the government withdraw its plan to nominate chairpersons and members instead of holding elections.
Warning of serious consequences for the cooperative structure, Rambabu announced district-wide protests beginning December 27 to oppose the decision.
