Tribune reports a scam involving Rs 81 lakh has broken in a PACS in Haroli, Himachal Pradesh. The scam is being investigated by the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Una.
The swindle came to light when a depositor was refused his money even though his fixed deposit had matured. The allegation is that secretary Shyam Kumar of the PACS is involved in the fraud. He had given Rs 90 lakh as loans to his family members.
Sources say such irregularities have been happening in the cooperative society since long but the concerned authorities have yet to take action.
