Presenting the Uttar Pradesh Budget for 2026–27 in the State Assembly, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna announced a major financial push for the cooperative sector, with allocations exceeding Rs 770 crore.

Highlighting that 2025 has been declared the International Year of Cooperatives by the United Nations following the Government of India’s efforts, Khanna said Uttar Pradesh became the first state to formally launch the global initiative.

Under the PACS Computerisation Scheme, 1,539 M-PACS were selected in Phase I and 1,523 in Phase II, with Rs 32 crore proposed for implementation. A substantial Rs 525 crore has been earmarked for the Interest Subvention Scheme to support farmers.

To ensure advance stocking of chemical fertilizers, Rs 150 crore has been allocated. The Chief Minister Krishak Samriddhi Yojana has been provided Rs 38 crore for long-term loan interest subvention, working capital assistance to cooperative banks, and modernization and branding of bank branches.

Additionally, Rs 25 crore has been proposed for new warehouses under the world’s largest grain storage plan in the cooperative sector, strengthening rural infrastructure and farmer support systems.
