Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has alleged a Rs 700 crore corruption scam in a cooperative sector project under the LDF government, media reports say.
He claimed that the Cooperation Department shortlisted two Kannur-based cooperatives for a Rs 900 crore project to develop and implement common software for 4,415 cooperative societies.
According to Chennithala, this decision came after cancelling an earlier agreement with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which had offered to execute the same project at a significantly lower cost of Rs 206 crore. He termed the move highly questionable and demanded a detailed probe into the matter.
