Rs 31 Cr farm credit and 25 new B-PACS in Chandauli

The Union Government has stepped up efforts to strengthen the cooperative sector in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh under the vision of ‘Sahakar-se-Samriddhi’, Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha.

The Minister said that since the creation of the Ministry of Cooperation in July 2021, comprehensive reforms, including digitisation and financial strengthening of cooperative banks, PACS and dairy cooperatives, have been implemented uniformly across the country.

According to the reply, Chandauli has 544 registered cooperative societies, of which 265 are functional. The district is benefiting from key schemes such as PACS computerisation, the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, PMFBY through cooperative channels, fertiliser distribution networks, and NABARD-supported RIDF projects.

To prioritise the district, 25 new multipurpose PACS (B-PACS) have been formed, while 92 PACS have been sanctioned under the computerisation project. During Kharif 2025-26, over 1.15 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured from 20,954 farmers through PACS.

In 2025-26, cooperative institutions disbursed Rs 3,115 lakh in agricultural credit to 2,292 farmers, reinforcing cooperatives as a key driver of rural growth.
