Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that a total of Rs 121.60 crore has been released to the State of Maharashtra so far under the ambitious Computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) project.

The financial assistance was disbursed in two tranches, Rs 87.95 crore in FY 2022–23 and Rs 33.65 crore in FY 2023–24. No funds have been released for the current and upcoming financial years (FY 2024–25 and 2025–26) so far.

In parallel, capacity building of PACS members has been a major focus. The National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT), under the Ministry of Cooperation, trained 1,78,163 PACS members across 2,527 programs during FY 2023–24 and 2,58,365 members through 3,024 programs in FY 2024–25.

As of June 30, 2025, an additional 115 programs had been conducted, benefiting 7,434 PACS across India, including Maharashtra.

Additionally, the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has conducted 481 training programmes for PACS, dairy, and fisheries sectors between FY 2020–21 and 2025–26 (up to 30 June 2025) in Maharashtra.

A total of 7,203 cooperative society members have participated in these training initiatives, strengthening grassroots-level cooperative leadership and governance.
