Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, said the government is undertaking large-scale upgradation of infrastructure at cooperative training institutes to strengthen the cooperative movement, deepen its grassroots reach and modernise institutional functioning.
Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), a grant of Rs 27.29 crore has been provided to the D.N.S. Regional Institute of Cooperative Management (RICM), Patna, for the construction of a new hostel facility. The hostel aims to attract more students and participants for enrolment in paid training programmes.
The Minister further informed that the Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Guwahati and ICM, Madurai are being relocated to new sites. Their new buildings will be constructed as per modernised requirements, and once completed, both institutes will function from future-ready smart campuses.
In addition, a new three-storeyed International Hostel has been added at VAMNICOM, Pune, with 50 twin-sharing rooms and three VIP suites, along with dining, academic and recreational facilities. The project was completed using a Rs 30 crore capital grant from the Ministry of Cooperation.
Amit Shah said the Ministry is also strengthening Computer and Information Technology infrastructure to support training, administration and digital outreach.
