Retired judge to probe into MSCB scam

Maharashtra Cooperation minister recently said in the state assembly a retired judge is likely to inquire into financial irregularities in Maharashtra State Cooperative (MSC) Bank with several leading politicians of the state ensnared by the scandal.

The probe is to be completed within six months, reports Hindustan Times. Over the last 30 months, inquiry conducted by additional cooperative registrar had not yielded any result.

Sources say conducting the probe within six months may not be easy as heavyweight politicians from Congress and NCP are involved in the scam.

The bank is now doing well, with its deposits rising by Rs 1500 crore. Its NPA (non-performing asset) has come down to 0.3 per cent, the minister said.
