RCS tough with defaulters in Co-op Housing Societies

Punjab’s Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) Girish Dayalan has ordered notices to cooperative housing societies that failed to remit statutory dues, such as External Development Charges (EDC) and Change of Land Use (CLU), to urban development authorities, despite collecting them from members, media reports say.

A 21-day deadline has been set to clear outstanding amounts, while individual member dues must be recovered by the managing committees and deposited within 30 days.

Societies must also submit a “No-Dues Certificate” to the Registrar’s office. Non-compliance may lead to supersession of the managing committee and appointment of an administrator to settle dues directly from society accounts.
