The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 20,000 on the Aurangabad District Central Co-operative Bank Limited for non-compliance with regulatory directions related to credit information reporting.

According to an RBI order dated May 14, 2026, the action was taken under the provisions of the Credit Information Companies (Regulation) Act, 2005. The penalty follows supervisory findings observed during the statutory inspection of the bank conducted by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) with reference to the bank’s financial position as on March 31, 2025.

RBI said the bank failed to submit borrowers’ credit information to all four Credit Information Companies, violating prescribed reporting norms. After issuing a show-cause notice and considering the bank’s written and oral submissions, the central bank concluded that the charge was sustained and warranted penal action.

RBI clarified that the penalty pertains solely to regulatory compliance deficiencies and does not affect the validity of transactions undertaken by the bank with its customers.
