The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has further extended the operational restrictions imposed on The Amanath Co-operative Bank Ltd., Bengaluru, under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The restrictions, originally issued on June 12, 2024, were set to remain in force until the close of business on December 12, 2025.
In a fresh directive, the RBI stated that it is necessary, in the public interest, to prolong the validity of these restrictions. Accordingly, the central bank has extended the directive for an additional three months, from the close of business on December 12, 2025, to the close of business on March 12, 2026, subject to further review.
The RBI also clarified that the extension should not be interpreted as an indication that it is satisfied with the financial health of the bank. All other terms and conditions of the earlier directive remain unchanged.
