RBI extends Directions on Indian Mercantile Co-op Bank

RBI imposes penalties on five Co-op Banks for regulatory violations

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the directions imposed on Indian Mercantile Co-operative Bank Limited (IMCBL), Lucknow for a further period of three months, from the close of business on October 27, 2025, to the close of business on January 27, 2026, subject to review.

The directions were originally issued under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, vide directive dated January 28, 2022, and have since been modified and extended periodically, the last extension being up to October 27, 2025.

According to the RBI, the extension has been granted as it is considered necessary in the public interest. All other terms and conditions of the earlier directive shall remain unchanged.
