The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted approval for the Kaira District Cooperative Bank to change its name to Kheda District Central Cooperative Bank Limited, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the bank’s management committee and cooperative leaders.
The renaming carries both historical and emotional value for the people of Kheda. The district holds a special place in India’s history as the birthplace of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, who played a pivotal role in the nation’s freedom movement.
After nearly 37 years of efforts, the approval marks a significant milestone.
The bank’s Chairman Tejash Patel expressed deep gratitude to RBI, emphasizing that the new name not only restores the region’s identity but also strengthens the institution’s bond with the people of Kheda.
With this change, Kheda District Central Cooperative Bank Limited reaffirms its commitment to providing inclusive financial services and cooperative support to farmers, traders, and the wider community, while preserving the legacy and pride of Kheda district.
